Let’s just say our novels are all outlined and ready to be written in November. AWESOME… but that was the easy part. As most writers know, the hardest part of being a writer is actually making time to write.
I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again: writing time doesn’t simply fall out of the sky into your lap. Just like with any intense project that requires a lot of thought and energy, you have to make time for it. That means prioritizing writing over other things in your schedule. Which means taking a good long look at your schedule (preferably in Google Calendar) and seeing exactly how you spend your time.
That’s what we’re exploring in today’s episode of WritersLife Wednesdays! I’m taking you behind the scenes (again) and showing you how I schedule time for writing during November, plus a bunch of other awesome stuff like:
- how I calendar block my routine and stay on track
- why short-term routines more powerful than long-term ones
- the 4 focus hacks I use every day to get the most out of my writing time
- my writing notebook + scene card binder
Let’s talk.
Let’s talk schedules and calendar blocking! What does YOUR NaNoWriMo routine look like? Do you calendar block? Or at least carve out time in your schedule to PRIORITIZE writing? Share YOUR favorite focus hacks in the comments below!
