I’ve been waiting a long time for this day! I said I was going to announce something super exciting on May 1st… Well, it’s May 1st and here I am to say: I’M PUBLISHING MY FIRST BOOK!
As some of you already know, I’ve been working on a very special story for the past two years. I’ve been wanting to tell you EVERYTHING ABOUT IT, but I somehow have controlled myself and kept my mouth shut for a while. BUT, NO MORE. In today’s post, I’m going to reveal all the details about my debut novel: the title, the genre, what it’s about (!!!), and when it’s going to hit your bookshelf.
I MIGHT SCREAM A LITTLE (or a lot.)
Let’s go.
If you would rather watch me reveal #allthethings about my novel (and scream and flail a lot) then check out this video I just posted on my YouTube channel!
May I present…
100 DAYS OF SUNLIGHT
Isn’t that a cute title?? I’m super proud of it. In fact, the minute after I got the idea for the book, that title popped into my head and I knew IT WAS MEANT TO BE. I’m going to be talking a lot about this book in the months to come, so get used to the hashtag #100DaysOfSunlight — and use it, too! I will literally happy-dance if I see you using this hashtag. like… wow. :”)
So, what’s the genre?
If you remember my NaNoWriMo 2017 post about this book, you might already have an idea of what 100 Days of Sunlight is like: genre, vibes, all that goodness. But if you’re new here (hi!!) I’ll describe it better right now:
• IT’S CUTE YA CONTEMPORARY
• with strong family + friendship themes
• a hint of romance
• a touch of comedy
• but mostly DRAMA AND TEARS
So if you like…
• crying
• laughing
• summer vibes everywhere
• WAFFLES
• cute brother relationships (!!)
• FLOWERS
• the color yellow
• first kisses
• drama!
• MORE FLOWERS
• boys who cry
• hate-to-love romance
• protagonists with disabilities who live life to the fullest
…THEN YOU’RE GONNA LOVE THIS BOOK.
Ready to know what it’s about? Like, actually read the book’s description?!!
*deep breath*
Here goes.
When 16-year-old poetry blogger Tessa Dickinson is involved in a car accident and loses her eyesight for 100 days, she feels like her whole world has been turned upside-down.
Terrified that her vision might never return, Tessa feels like she has nothing left to be happy about. But when her grandparents place an ad in the local newspaper looking for a typist to help Tessa continue writing and blogging, an unlikely answer knocks at their door: Weston Ludovico, a boy her age with bright eyes, an optimistic smile…and no legs.
Knowing how angry and afraid Tessa is feeling, Weston thinks he can help her. But he has one condition — no one can tell Tessa about his disability. And because she can’t see him, she treats him with contempt: screaming at him to get out of her house and never come back. But for Weston, it’s the most amazing feeling: to be treated like a normal person, not just a sob story. So he comes back. Again and again and again.
Tessa spurns Weston’s “obnoxious optimism”, convinced that he has no idea what she’s going through. But Weston knows exactly how she feels and reaches into her darkness to show her that there is more than one way to experience the world. As Tessa grows closer to Weston, she finds it harder and harder to imagine life without him — and Weston can’t imagine life without her. But he still hasn’t told her the truth, and when Tessa’s sight returns he’ll have to make the hardest decision of his life: vanish from Tessa’s world…or overcome his fear of being seen.

Does this mean I’m self-publishing?
Yes, I am proudly indie publishing 100 Days of Sunlight. As I mentioned in the above video, there’s a lot of reasons why I want to be an indie author, and I’m going to talk about them in a future video! But for now, you just have to know what this means for me: I’m a one-man-band. I’m running the whole show behind the scenes. I’m designing my own cover, planning my own book tour, creating my own jacket art, uploading my own files, communicating with formatters and distributors, creating my own promo materials, and much more. Thankfully, I’m pretty good at multitasking.
But this means that I have lot of behind-the-scenes work to do in order to get this book out into the world, looking its best. So be patient with me, friends!
When am I going to reveal the cover art?
MAY 10TH. Yes, next week! Mark your calendars! Until then, my lips are absolutely sealed as to what it’s going to look like! (All I can say is: it’s going to look beautiful on your bookshelf.)
That’s all for now!
